Was du davon hast:What you get:Du verstehst deinen CO₂-Wert je kg Milch oder Fleisch und weißt, welcher Hebel im Stall Geld spart statt kostet. You understand your CO₂ value per kg milk or meat and know which lever in the barn saves money rather than costs it.
Woher kommt das CO₂ im Stall?Where does the CO₂ in the barn come from?
For cattle methane from the rumen is usually the biggest item, for pigs and poultry it is feed.
Schema zur LektionDiagram for this lesson
Pansen-Methan (Rinder, Schafe, Ziegen): entsteht bei der Verdauung von Gras und Grundfutter.
Futter: Anbau, Dünger, Transport – und bei Soja aus Rodungsgebieten die Landnutzungsänderung.
Gülle und Mist: Methan und Lachgas im Lager.
Dünger, Diesel, Strom, Wärme auf dem Hof.
Rumen methane (cattle, sheep, goats): produced when digesting grass and forage.
Feed: cultivation, fertiliser, transport – and for soy from deforestation areas the land-use change.
Slurry and manure: methane and nitrous oxide in storage.
Fertiliser, diesel, power, heat on the farm.
Methan wiegt schwer: 1 kg Methan aus biologischen Quellen zählt wie 27 kg CO₂ (IPCC AR6, 100 Jahre).
Methane weighs heavily: 1 kg methane from biological sources counts like 27 kg CO₂ (IPCC AR6, 100 years).
Tip: many dairies already have a climate balance of your farm. Bring it along – we calculate on the same principle (BEK, IPCC) and add the soil.

Fütterung: was spart, was kostetFeeding: what saves, what costs
European soy and N/P-reduced feeding cut a lot for little money. A methane feed additive only pays with a premium.
Schema zur LektionDiagram for this lesson
Soy: soy from deforestation areas carries land-use change. Certified deforestation-free, from Europe or replaced by rapeseed meal cuts it clearly – costs a little more per kg.
N/P-reduced (pigs, poultry): multi-phase feeding to need cuts nitrogen and phosphorus in slurry – less land needed, less nitrous oxide and ammonia.
Feed additive (3-NOP): about a quarter less rumen methane, authorised in the EU. Costs about €100 per cow and year – red without a dairy premium.

Grünland und WeideGrassland and grazing
Your grassland is a store. Keeping it matters more than building new: do not plough, lime by pH, more grazing.
Schema zur LektionDiagram for this lesson
Permanent grassland often holds clearly more humus than arable land. Ploughing releases much of it within a few years – so keeping it is also a funding rule. There is no humus money for keeping it, but a soil value you can show.
Grazing (dairy): cows outside in summer – less slurry in storage, less concentrate and diesel. In the farm app cautiously about €90 saving per cow and year at €30 cost.
Kalk und Nährstoffe: Eine günstige Grünland-Probe je Schlag zeigt, ob Kalk fehlt. Richtiger pH = mehr Klee, mehr Futter.
Lime and nutrients: an affordable grassland sample per field shows whether lime is missing. Right pH = more clover, more forage.

CO₂ je kg Milch oder Fleisch verstehenUnderstanding CO₂ per kg milk or meat
The figure is simple: all emissions of the enterprise ÷ kg sold. One example farm is at 1.05 kg CO₂e per kg milk.
Schema zur LektionDiagram for this lesson
Example: 1,000 t milk a year, 1,050 t CO₂e emissions → 1.05 kg CO₂e per kg milk (energy-corrected). With less fertiliser, less diesel, other protein feed and own solar power the figure falls in the sample to 0.92 kg – about 12 % less.
Allocation: a dairy farm also sells calves and cull cows. Part of the emissions goes to meat – by fixed rules (IDF standard). So always ask which method was used.
Gute Zahl ≠ niedrige Zahl allein.
A good figure ≠ just a low one. What matters is that it comes from your data (primary data) and is calculated the same way year after year. Then the buyer sees your progress.
